Another year of adventures pass and yet, we are still holding it together! Looking at last years Christmas card, we just have to laugh. We didn't think that this year would lead to bigger adventures, but it did. Here's our rundown-
2013
January - Dan got accepted into the Executive MBA program at BYU, therefore, we made the decision to move closer to BYU. Only after 18 months in Roy. We also found out we were expecting our third baby.
February - Clarissa taught creative movement dance classes for the community. We took a fun trip to Las Vegas as a family. We started looking for a house... again. And sadly, we also miscarried.
March - All we did was search for homes... two to three trips to the Salt Lake area a week. We also started finishing the final projects on our Roy house so we could put it up for sale
April - We put our Roy home up for sale and it was under contract in 24 hours. Blessings! We also found our new home in Saratoga Springs - sadly, it also needed renovating *sigh*
May - We moved to Saratoga Springs and started renovating right away. We were so sad to leave our Roy home and friends there. We will cherish that place forever. Yep, that was pretty much our month.
June - Continued renovations on our new home - from walls, to floors, to lighting, to doors... we did it all in our new house. Brooklyn also celebrated her second birthday. We spent a lot of time out on the lake and at our pool.
July - A lot of family trips and reunions this month while renovations continued into the night. We also were able to do the flowers for the Miss Roy Scholarship Pageant.
August - Our most busy month. Dan started school at BYU and continues to work full time in Salt Lake. Abigail turned 5 the day school started so she was able to go to Kindergarten *sob!* She rides the bus and has a trail of boys for friends. Abi also started the Let's Play Music program and looks forward to going every week. Dan was called into the Young Men's as the Varsity Assistant Coach and Clarissa was called to be the Relief Society secretary.
September - Sans the kitchen counters and back splash, we finished our home renovations! We would have been done earlier, but Dan's schooling sure put a halt on things. Our month was filled with elk hunting, Colorado tripping, and Clarissa started her new position as the Ballroom Coach for our Elementary School. She has two teams and teaches over 50 - 4th, 5th, and 6th graders!
October - We kept ourselves busy with BYU football games, supporting a 50 mile run in Idaho, a successful murder mystery dinner, a get-a-way to Deer Valley, and two cute fairies for Halloween.
November - As much as we would like to say our November slowed down, it didn't. Our biggest event was our purchasing a dog named Maximus - but our December activities were to have Max go to another family because he wasn't the right fit for us. However, we finished our kitchen. It feels AMAZING to have it all done. This means that we finally got our home unpacked!
December - Dan finished his first semester in the EMBA program! Yay! He celebrated by taking himself to the Nickelcade. We had a great Christmas party with Dan's family in our new home with our new Christmas tree. Abi recieved a Hello Kitty camcorder which is right up her creative ally. Brookie received Hello Kitty (the obsession of the year!) underwear and a gumball machine - all about incentives for going potty. Brookie has been potty training herself which we are pleased about. We are now excited to spend our Christmas in Colorado with Clarissa's family.
Who knows what the next year will bring! I tried to keep this short - I tell Dan all the time that we have lived lifetimes this year. I had NO idea our lives would take a complete turn as I made out Christmas card last year.
We hope that your adventures continue as well and whether they are fortunate or unfortunate, that you find those adventures bringing you close to Christ. For he is the true reason for this wonderful season.
