valerie’s first birthday

Our good friends asked us to come to their daughter’s first birthday party. Not only that but I was privileged enough to be the photographer to just help grab some photos that as a host, it is hard to do. We love this family so much and Sterling put so much time into this party for Valerie – especially the amazing cake.

B was happy about cake!

daddy’s sunday helpers

Dan is known in our family as the bread winner and the bread maker. He loves bread… anything from sweet breads to rolls to just plain homemade bread. He is always letting the girls help and is just so good with them.

B played in the water forever! I remember Abi doing the same. Good for beginners.

Oh my gosh, I have the cutest family. I loved being in the kitchen with them. It made my Sunday so much better. And so did the bread… yum!

abi’s project

I just wanted to take a few minutes and spotlight Abi. This past week she had her first sewing “lesson” with me. She made a pillowcase for my brother Erik since he is going on a mission in two weeks. She did such a great job. She was patient and the whole experience was truly rewarding for me as a mom. She is always asking for my scraps and pretends to sew them together. Or she will tell me something like, “mom, if we just sew this together and if you can just give me some ribbon I can make this beautiful dress.” I wanted to fuel that creativity and allow her to actually make something. She was ready to start sewing.

She helped to cut and lay out the fabric. She is great at pinning too. Then, I pushed the pedal and she guided the fabric through the machine. She took instructions so well and it was cool to watch the light in her eyes shine SO bright! She couldn’t wait to share with Dan what she did and to give her gift to Erik.

easter dresses

It was a bit delayed in our family as we were sick and then we had General Conference. But here are my girls in all their Easter dress glory! I made B’s dress last year and made it way too big for her last Easter but was grateful I didn’t have to make one this year :) Abi’s was a peasant shirt pattern that I elongated into a dress. Again, I made it a size too big and lengthened it so she can wear it for a while.

These girls are so funny! What even Abi does, B will do and visa versa. So it is this continual cycle of doing what the other is doing.   _MG_6119

Why is it that I never get a good photo of BOTH of them at the same time. Ugh! I so though I did get one. Maybe I should do more individual ones next time.
