For years Dan and I have planned that we would go back to Hawaii for our 10th anniversary. Since that is where we started and lived for the first while of our marriage, it is truly important to us. We made it happen with over a year of prep and savings. It was hard and we sacrificed a lot but it was truly worth it.
We flew out of Montrose since my parents were so sweet to watch our girls. I sure love small airports. I cried the first leg to LA just hurting being away from my girls.
But then our adventure started of cancelled flights and luggage sitting - for hours until ours came. We stayed in LA this night. By this time, I was SO thankful I didn't have my girls to worry about.
We made it home!!!!
Our first condo was in downtown Waikiki. When we first lived in Hawaii, we never had enough money to drive down to the city to play so we mostly stayed on the North Shore. So this time we ventured and stayed here for a bit. The view was amazing!!!
The first thing we did was stop at Leonards. I have been craving malasadas for years and could not wait to get my hands on some again. It was heaven!!!
Then we headed straight to Haunama Bay and snorkeled. We saw an octopus and trumpet fish right away! So neat. The tropical fish in my imagination are always small but in really life they are like football sized or bigger. It was a big first day since we had just flown in that afternoon.
Oh my Hawaii sky. How I have missed you!
When Dan and I lived here, the only time we went into the city was with friends for a Sushi adventure. We ate at a restaurant called Todai's. It was fairly good Sushi, but about 4 hours later we were both super sick. We always refer to it as To-Die's now. It has long since gone out of business (surprise, surprise) but driving around I mentioned to Dan that we had to be sort of close to the area it was in when we looked over at the stoplight we were at and there it was!!! Oh good times!!!
