The Color Run–RAD!

For my birthday in April, I got registered for the Color Run. I have never done an official 5k and was so excited to do this. I told my mom about it and she said she had it on her bucket list, so she joined in too! What a lucky gal am I?

We got up mighty early to make it to Salt Lake. You might say that I got up on the “wrong side of the house” at the beginning. It was all I could do not to get upset at everyone and everything – the joys of being pregnant with little sleep.

We started out all white and clean-

And 33 minutes later had finished our 5k! The girls (surprised, but not surprised) did amazing and our speaker system on our stroller was a hit with all the other people! It was truly a joy to run it. I was SO happy and content on the way home. Really, a different person. Nothing like a run to get you in a good mood.

I have to mention that my goal was 38 minutes. I hadn’t been able to run since the beginning of March before I got so sick from this pregnancy, so I was worried how I would do. So to do 33 minutes where each mile was faster than the last (negative splits – info from my amazing hubby) was truly astounding to me.

And I need to mention because it will go down in our Thomas family history that after 1/2 mile, all I could do was tell Dan that I needed to pee. I for sure thought there would be a bathroom half way. Dan was even considering asking someone who was out in the their yard if we could use their bathroom – what a good hubby. But I think that is what helped me go faster with each mile. I ran right through the finish line and didn’t stop until the bathrooms.

I loved watching the girls get colorful. We had fun coloring each other with our bombs when it was over.

We did it… and I LOVE that we did it as a family with my mom in hand. It was the best birthday present I could have been given and I will cherish these memories forever… and beat my time next year :)

A, B, C, D… and E!!!

We are finally getting a Little E in our alphabet (Abigail, Brooklyn, Clarissa, & Dan). We have waited patiently (most of the time) and waded through personal trials trying to get a baby to stick. :) It has been a long and hard road.

I don’t think pregnancies are really ever going to be a breeze for me, but this one just weighed so heavy on me emotionally and sometimes still does. I truly cried every day due to being sick and to the frustration of wondering if we would miscarry again. There were signs and there were lots of prayers. Thankfully the prayers won out this time around. It has only been the past two weeks that I finally allowed myself to think that a spirit of God would finally be joining our family in November. Honestly, I haven’t felt really excited yet though. I still have hesitations but I guess there’s nothing much I can do for them now :)

We found out March 12th.

Taken March 20th at 5 weeks-

In April we were able to see our little one and the flutter of it’s heart. I was so emotional going into this appointment. Dan had never been to an ultrasound appointment either so it was a first for him – For Abi, work was three hours from the Dr.’s office and for Brooklyn, he was living in New York at the time for work. So I was just grateful he could be there for this.

The first thing I was looking for was the baby in the first place. With my last miscarriage, there wasn’t a baby, so this was important. The baby’s heart was fluttering and that was neat, but we were told the baby was really small for the week I was and so we left with more hesitations. Didn’t smooth over my emotions much.

I think this photo was at ten weeks. I was sick from week 5 on and it peaked around 10-14 weeks. We were pretty miserable around here. Everything made me sick – food, naps, lying down, moving around.

This is how we told my family we were expecting at 15 weeks-

2014-05-09 18.13.41

I started just barely showing around 15 weeks. That was a first for me and also one of my hesitations after hearing about the baby being small. With the girls, I couldn’t fit in my pants at week 5 so here I am now at week 20 and just barely having to use an elastic for my button is a huge deal.

At 16 weeks I really popped. It was a week I was terribly ill and thankfully the last week I was sick. Guess I just needed to go out with a bang on the sickness thing.

Two weeks later at 16 weeks, I was definitely pregnant and couldn’t really hide it anymore, but still at 20 weeks have people hesitant to ask. I have chosen this time to really embrace my bump. I have tried wearing clothes that show it and I have tried not wearing big clothing. With Brooklyn, I was in a really tough place mentally and emotionally and I wore sweats every day. I feel so much healthier now and so much happier even with our trials on this pregnancy. I don’t know if this will be our last baby or not, so I am really trying to embrace the changes – I am not perfect at that. I struggle at least one time a day with my softening and growing bumps. Pregnancy is not easy for me because of the changes my body goes through. I hate post partum recovery too but am trying to keep in mind that I have done it three times now and will conquer it again.

2014-06-13 11.21.31-1

This was my first time wearing a maternity shirt at 18 weeks. I still don’t fit into most of the ones I wore with the girls. I am so much smaller – I’ll take it too.

And this was the last photo I took of my belly a week and a half ago at almost 19 weeks – more on this great feat soon!

2014-06-21 08.53.15-2

Over the past week, Dan has finally been able to feel the baby move. I always look forward to that moment. It brings a different light to his eyes and means the world to me. He is thrilled and has just been my rock through this physically and emotionally draining time. I couldn’t be more in love with him than right now… until tomorrow when I am.

We find out what we are having this week! That may or may not change our whole world full of glitter and gloss right now.

Due between November 15th – 21st.

Riss Floral - Halladay Wedding

It is always a pleasure to work with someone you have an established friendship with. One of my high school friends was married two weeks ago and I was able to do her flowers. She did this glam wedding with lots of bling. The bouquet was fun to create with all the crystals and pearls collaring the bottom.

She’s Three!!!

Dan was on a scout trip so B’s birthday was a bit toned down. We still partied a bit though. She got her birthday pancakes with sprinkles-

Then we headed off to the Museum of Natural Curiosity with 10,000 other people who also wanted to celebrate B’s birthday. It was so packed! What a fun museum and we can’t wait to go back.

We had to run 1/4 mile in the rain to get back to the car. I was so underprepared. The girls did great shoved in the stroller on top of each other. We came home and had hot cocoa… it was only 40 degrees on June 17th! Crazy!

After a dinner of mac and cheese per request, we celebrated with a small cake from Kneaders.

Brooklyn,

We sure love you. How time is flying and how you are growing into such a fun, witty little girl. Here are three things we love about you-

  • You are a great delegator. You are good at telling people what they need to be doing… for you especially. Like when you ask us to color with you. You are so cute, we can’t refuse, and for some reason we like you telling us which Hello Kitty we need to color. You are going to be a great leader someday.
  • You are hilarious! Your sense of humor is so funny! You are always making us laugh with your point blank statements. It is like you know just what to say and when. It makes it hard for mom and dad to hold it together – especially when you need to be serious.
  • You love your family. We sure like that you like to be close with each of us. We love your cuddles and need to sit on our laps. We love that you would follow Abi to the ends of the earth and also keep her in line. And we love that you know families are forever, especially our family.

Here’s to a great third year for you!

Love - Mom and Dad
