This is my hair for my competitions...

On this particular competition, Dan did my hair. Impressed? I was... and grateful! He got up at 5am to help me out.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BALLROOM!

My partner Matt and I have been dancing together for a couple months now. We have competed every Saturday for the past month (it has been a rough and crazy month!) We have only taken second place in one of our many competitions in the past month. We are competing against couples who have been doing ballroom for YEARS and dancing together for YEARS. Hopefully next semester, we will be placing more often. We feel we have done really well for where we are.

 

It takes me about an hour to do my nails, 2-3 hours to get my hair and makeup done and another hour to get my complete costume on. I sure love it though! I designed my dress and had my good friend Anna make it. Every minute I’ve had since the dress has been done I have been putting rhinestones on it. From what I was told, it was very unique and stood out on the floor (which is a HUGE plus in front of the judges). I wish I had other places to wear my dress.

This is my other partner Tim. We competed in two competitions. One was in a level above ours and the other was the Tango on our level... and WE TOOK SECOND PLACE! It was such a wonderful experience.

I couldn’t do ballroom without my wonderful husband! Dan has been OVERLY supportive of me and my dance goals. He doesn’t hold me back at all and really allows me to soar! I owe everything I have to him. He got me started in ballroom and he keeps me going in ballroom.

Abi loves dancers and dancing! She always asks me to "Da" with her and cannot stop watching dancers when she sees them.

My mother-in-law was there cheering on me and my two brothers-in-law (who are also on the Ballroom team). It was so wonderful to have her support (and for her watching Abi).

Notes---

We are talking about media, music, and technology in our class right now. I sure feel overwhelmed.

Even since I have been in high school, it feels like the evil slope is getting steeper and steeper - faster and faster. More and more opportunities seem to pop up for the youth to fall into Satan’s trap. Things like Facebook, MySpace, Texting, Internet, TV, Movies, and Music can lead to so many problems like pornography, sexting, wasting time, skewed ideals and beliefs, and myriads more.

How am I ever going to protect my home and family from all the gateways Satan can slither through and raise successful/righteous children?

Talking about this epidemic really makes me admire all my friends who are attempting to raise righteous children today. What do you do to block those fiery darts of the Devil? What do you to do keep up your endurance to push on?

One of our good friends offered to take our family’s pictures yesterday. What a success! We were only in a session for 30 minutes and got some great shots. Abi was all over the place, but who could expect less when you have a wide open park to run in?

Our Halloween!

We had a great Halloween! I so had a ballroom competition earlier in the day so I was already dressed up which was sweet (but my fake lashed were bothersome by the end of the day). Pictures to come soon... The evening was really relaxed and really fun!

We started our night off with swamp drinks (awesome!) and our traditional Jack-o-lantern pizza.

Then we dressed up and went treating around our ward. We liked it because we were able to find out where our friends lived.

Mom and Abi... she was carrying her bag like a nap sack because it was too heavy to carry normally.

So the mittens we put on Abi to keep her warm was the BEST idea! She tended to make herself at home in people’s bowls of candy. But with her gloves on she could only grab one piece of candy if we got lucky.

Dan and I had one goal for the night... chocolate! We didn’t have any in the house so we helped Abi secure the best and “her” favorite kinds :) We succeeded!
