a raspberry and a tooth

well brookie is just growing up so fast right before my eyes. how I love this girl! she is cutting a tooth right now, her first one and I am so excited to see that little white bump pop out of her gums from that clear line forming. I will be sad to see her toothless grin go, but I just know I will fall more in love with her as she gets teeth.

sacondly, I have never seen a girl blow so many raspberries before! That is how she talks, gets upset, gets your attention, and protests at you. sadly, it is too cute. I love how she furrows her brow to do them.

finally, she will be crawling any day. we have the hands and knees down, the rocking down, and the moving backwards down. We are working on the forwards now. She has done so many faceplants I feel sorry for her.

on a side note and for journaling purposes… brookie, you hurled four times today in tjMaxx. I am grateful that your blanket was in a bowl shape to keep it from exiting your carseat. we bathed you in the sink there and wore a onesie and blanket that was from a box of dirty laundry in the back of my car*

*the box of dirty laundry – we haven’t had a washer and dryer for four weeks. we have been working on the floor in that area of the house. it was a long job, but we are finally done. THANKFULLY, I had started laundry today so we could actually wash Brookie’s carseat. Two weeks ago, I went over to a neighbor’s home to do two loads of laundry and only got one load done. I left the other load in the car because I thought I would have to go back later to get it done. Thankfully I did that because we had to pull not only this outfit out of the box, but another one last week.

confessions–horseradish

so I made a new dinner tonight. dan told me a couple of weeks ago that he loves french dip sandwiches. I happened to find a recipe on pinterest, of course. I went to Winco and bought the ingredients yesterday and it was on the menu for tonight. the recipe called for a dallop of horseradish on the dough before you rolled it up with roast beef and swiss cheese. Me, not knowing what it is, using, or eating horseradish before, and knowing how much my sweet hubby likes it on his steak, I decided that I would put a bit more than a dollop on each roll because I love him. *fake smile with my head tilted to the side*

don’t do this…

don’t even USE it…

do you even know how completely nasty horseradish is? even talking about it makes my innards want to retch.

it tainted my idea of a french dip sandwich forever!

the funny thing is that dan said he had never even heard of putting it on the sandwiches before…

needless to say, dan choked down a couple and abi and I drank the broth you dip your sandwich in to rid our mouths of the nastiest taste ever!

joyous-

*burp* – ugh!

I am still trying to think how this can relate to life, but all I can think is that this IS life!

but could you get mad at this face?

IMG_3672

or this one for staying in her pj’s all day – well, at least until she didn’t make it to the potty in time – whoops

IMG_3679IMG_3681

and, of course, it wouldn’t be a day with a princess getting married in our family

on a side note: happy sixth anniversary to Dan and I (and Jake and April) yesterday. we had a great – pretty normal night since we celebrated on Monday. Here are the flowers that Dan brought me. There are six big flowers. I get one for each year. I love that Dan lets me arrange them. He is so good at letting me use my talents. I gave Dan 6 balloons with a gift tied to each one. He was surprised and grateful. I am glad I bought extra because Abi popped 2 of them…

On Monday we celebrated our anniversary by going to the Nicklecade. Great! It was my year to plan and I wanted to do something that Dan likes. We also went out to eat and that was nice.

Dan surprised me with this- in a different frame

It is a painting by Walter Rane – my favorite LDS artist – called He is Not Here. It is gorgeous and about 3’x2’.  I love Walter Rane. There is something about his painting that evokes such emotion. I love the people is his paintings. Their eyes especially. Sadly, this painting does not have any people; but this is what I love about it. It makes you think about Christ. It makes you picture Him or think of his Resurrection. You would have to work at it not to think about it. And that is why this is my second favorite painting of Rane’s. And because of a wonderful hubby who knows I love art, we own it.

before it gets too late

I wanted to get these up before the time got away from me… photos from Christmas. We had such a great Christmas. In fact, it was one of the best and here’s why

  1. we spoke in church! welcome to our new ward right? well, it was the perfect thing to bring Christ into our Christmas! (plus it got dan’s siblings to actually come to church, which we both loved)
  2. we spent Christmas with Dan’s family and it was nice and chill
  3. we laughed a lot
  4. we ice skated on our rink and played hockey with tuna cans and paint rollers on extenders (welcome to being a thomas!) I am trying to get some photos of that.
  5. we spent Christmas in our NEW HOME! How cool is that?!
  6. we ate good food
  7. abi wanted to open every gift and “helped” everyone else open theirs
  8. brooklyn did pretty good - minus a blowout - up to her hair – in her christmas dress
  9. flying rc helicopters on our street with dan’s brothers
  10. bacon toothpicks
  11. perplexus frustration – the BEST gift ever for the year
  12. really feeling great that we pulled this off!!!

here are our favorite spoils

    • princess shoes, wands, tutus, movies, polly pockets, art easel
