farm country at thanksgiving point

I took my girls to Thanksgiving Point on Monday to meet up with my cousin and her kids… it was pretty much my first real outing like this with the girls, without dan. Overall, we did pretty good given it was abi’s tired hours – 3-5pm. IMG_1808IMG_1810IMG_1812

abi weighed as much as 5 chickens… I won’t tell you how much I weighed :)

don’t you love her hand on the cow’s rump? IMG_1815IMG_1820IMG_1825IMG_1827

waiting for the pony ride… abi flipped out and wouldn’t go. neither would jean. IMG_1830IMG_1832IMG_1838IMG_1840IMG_1841

I just had to capture how much I love my cousin and her lax! check out how she strolls the stroller :) p.s. that stroller has been through all 5 of her kids and still rollin’

getting the chicken feed- abi got pecked and everyone in the country could hear her wailin… it just scared her, but it scared her for an hour afterwards too- poor abi kind of had a rough time. IMG_1849IMG_1851

my girls

yesterday we tried to get photos of the girls in their matching dresses… is it only my girls or does it take 200 photos just to get one that might work? I will spare you most of them, but I liked showing the set up ones!

by the end of our first try abi was strangling brooklyn-

this one is my favorite, (our second set of shots) but I wish brooklyn would have been in a better mood-

Brooklyn had a hard weekend- she ate every hour for 25 minutes the whole Saturday. Then screamed from 9pm sat night to about 9pm Sunday night. She would calm down a bit outside, but overall, we stood bouncing her for 24hours. I was so grateful that she waited until Dan got home for the weekend to start. She wouldn’t let us sit and also wouldn’t eat. Tough. Motherhood is so unglamorous!!!

We are doing better today… thank heavens!!!

Three Year Interview

IMG_1396

I took a few minutes and interviewed Abigail… here are her answers:

What is your name: Abi

How old are you: um, one, two, free (while counting on her fingers)

What is your favorite Color: pink

Who is your best friend: Erik

What is your favorite animal: pig

What do you want to be when you grow up: I don’t know… Um, I want to be an Angelina when I grow up (as in Angelina Ballerina)

What is your favorite movie: Rapunzel

What is your favorite book: Angelina book (Again, Angelina Ballerina)

What makes you happy: Erik

What makes you sad: I don’t know – my dad makes me sad because I don’t like to let him push the swing upside down and get in the pokies

What is your favorite food: Marshmallow mateys

Favorite song to sing: At last I see the light (Rapunzel) (I so thought she would say the Firework song by Katy Perry)

What games do you like to play: “princess games by dancing”

This was so quick and fun… I hope to be able to do it for each birthday. Don’t you love her sad answer? It made me laugh… I don’t even know what it means.

And Erik (her uncle), you have a lot to live up to buddy!!!

brooklyn’s baby blessing

we had such a joyous day yesterday. our sweet brooklyn florence was blessed and given a name. dan did such a wonderful job and seeing the worthy priesthood holders of our families stand in a circle was really touching and powerful. we missed those who couldn’t make it… brooklyn was an angel during the blessing and didn’t cry pretty much the whole day too. she handled all the handling of her pretty well too.

our afternoon continued with a fun and crazy party for the girls (abi’s b-day party was celebrated too). we had just enough food and was only left with three cream puffs and a couple of celery sticks. I was so touched by all the friends and family that came to support my girls. they are so lucky to have such a good support system and are starting off on a good, solid foundation.

Highlights of the day:

  • the blessing itself (of course)
  • bearing my testimony and having abi come up on the stand, look at me, walk around the podium to the other side where the tissues were, get one and hand it up to me. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry… it was just so sweet
  • holding my sweet brooklyn in such a beautiful dress
  • knowing that things are right in my little family
  • dan bearing his testimony
  • hearing the other testimonies that were born – the church is true!!!
  • dan being a worthy priesthood holder and seeing that manifest
  • seeing my old roommate Ashlee- came from Kansas! so my sister
  • abi changing clothes about 8 times – every time she opened a gift and it was clothing, she was changed in an instant… outside, inside, in front of all the people… no modesty what-so-ever… we need to work on that one
  • having my balloom friends come and listening to all their success in that sector of the world
  • watching people devour all the food I had prepared… it meant it was good
  • watching my dad laugh with all the boy cousins and my brother

I cannot begin to explain what this day meant to me. Again, I am so grateful for family… I a so lucky to know that we are eternally together if we do what’s right.
