Abigail–Kindergarten Graduation

The Dr. was able to see me the morning Abi graduated Kindergarten. So a dear friend of mine who the girls adore came over and helped them get ready for the day. Since I couldn’t even get myself ready, it was much needed. You know, I never saw myself being sick for this day as I can remember my own graduation and how my mom took the time to curl my long hair and I donned my red velvet dress. I think I wanted Abi to feel that kind of importance too. So I was kind of devastated that I couldn’t fulfill my expectations for the day. So my friend was truly an answer to my prayers. She came over and curled the girls’ hair, painted their nails, cleaned my kitchen, and got the girls lunch. This friend of mine is going through some serious trials of her own. I would never wish for them myself, but she handles it with such grace. I admire her and am so thankful for her service as she forgot about herself and, without second thought, came right over to help that morning. She is an angel in my eyes and I am forever in her debt.

I got home from the Doctor just in time to take the girls’ photos and get them to school-

Abi had the letter D for drawing in her program. She did a fantastic job – as all the kids did. Abi is really tall for her age, but she is also almost a year younger than most of her class mates since her birthday is the deadline for starting kindergarten. Her friend Erica is right next to her and is almost exactly a year older than Abi. Erica is how tall I was in kindergarten – and throughout the rest of school – and probably the rest of my life to be honest :)

We went to Mrs. Bryson’s class room to have diplomas handed out. I loved Abi’s teacher this year and hope B will have her someday.

Abi, we are so proud of you! Again, your growth this year intellectually was astounding. You went from knowing about 10 letters to knowing all of them, their sounds, numbers 1-100, and even to reading books! We know you loved school and that pleases us. We hope you continue to have a yearning for learning. You are a good friend and kind to everyone. We also hope this continues, even when it gets hard at times. You are a light to others, even your parents and we couldn’t be happier you are our daughter. We know Heavenly Father is also pleased with you. Your testimony is growing strong and we love to see and hear your testimony. We love you!

First Day and Last Day

Trudging Through the Last of May

As much as May started good, we had a rough last couple of weeks. The last two and a half weeks of May, someone in our family was sick. We just passed it around. It was awful. The worst is that I eventually got it and it knocked me down the last week of school – so I couldn’t keep up with Abi’s activities and felt so bad.

Dan and I did get to attend an outdoor concert at Thanksgiving Point. It was really nice even though he was so sick-

Feeling that Summer Vibe

In May, we couldn’t get enough of outside and we could totally feel summer coming and it was tough going to school – or should I say, I struggled to get Abi to school because I wanted to play with her!

But we did have princesses at the bus stop daily-

Abigail- Let’s Play Music Recital

We always have some lazy afternoons…

2014-05-01 14.20.462014-05-01 15.35.28

But when Abi is home from school, we have some good adventure. This particular night included Abi’s Let’s Play Music recital. This is the most amazing music program and I am so thankful that she has been able to be a part of it. It is very parent involved the first year and it was tough supporting it sometimes personally, but knowing how much Abi learned and grew from this class, that always made it easier to support. I loved watching her eyes light up as she made connections in music this year… I am even surprised at how much I learned and Brookie for that matter.

Abi and Emily-

Dan’s mom and my mom were able to make it. Abi is one lucky girl to have such great support-

This is Abi’s teacher Mrs. Amy. We sure love her. It takes such a special teacher to teach Let’s Play Music because you have to be crazier than the kids to get them excited about music. It is so much fun!

Brookie, Abi, and Sid -

2014-05-02 20.23.31

We made so many new friends in this class of 7 girls and their moms. We can’t wait for year two! Good job Abi. We are so proud of you. We know it was hard work every week to add music homework to your school routine. I know it was hard to practice and have me prod you a few times over to try again. But this is going to give you great music and study skills in the future. Thank you for working hard and being such a great example to Brookie… she truly watches your every move. She loves you! You will always look back and love your music class. Congrats on a year well done! We love you!
