Last Night and Today...

Happy Birthday to me! What a wonderful day this turned out to be...

Last night I threw myself a birthday party. We invited a lot of our friends over and in the process made some new friends too! I spent all day cleaning the house and preparing food. I also receive a call from a good looking gentleman who asked me to make a birthday cake for his wife. I was SO impressed with my work of art (in the photos), I am pretty sure she was happy too :) We partied with about 14 of us, and only 6 chairs... oh the joys of being young and poor! Once we finished Dan packed his suitcase and I cleaned up the house. Then we finished a movie we watched and talked for a long time. By this time, it was almost time to get up!

At 5 am this morning (not the greatest birthday present) I took Dan to the Salt Lake airport where he would take off for three weeks to NY. His dad is also going with him. his dad is running the Boston Marathon on Monday and then they will drive to NY and work where we lived. I already miss Dan so much. I am amazed at what a strength he has become in my life. I rely on him for so much and I am already realizing with a grateful heart all he does for Abi and me. 21 more days to go...

So I am on about 2 hours of sleep... 7am-9am. I am tired, but of course Abi didn't want to sleep all day! We took the morning easy since the Salt Lake marathon was going on and we are in the middle of the loop and really didn't have a way out. Then this afternoon, Abi and I went and partied! We went to the South Town Expo Center for a women's convention. There were hundreds of booths on jewelry, clothing, health, makeup, shoes and handbags! It was a mad house too! Strollers everywhere! We whopped for two hours and had a great time! I pampered myself to a necklace and earring set, a card game that I am just DYING to play!!!

Oh AND glitter toes!!! Check out the photo of those! It was such a crazy and fun experience. Abi was really overstimulated, so I spent a lot of time pulling her in and out of her stroller. When she was in my arms she was fine emotionally, but wanted to touch everything... and when she was in her stroller (if it wasn't moving) she was a wreck. Luckily, I didn't feel too out of place since 4,000 other mothers were doing the same thing! I also was in awe at all the pregnant women! Definitely not upstate NY!

Abi and I also dressed up and got our photos taken in a photobooth! It was so much fun. I will post those photos once I get them digital. What a great memory for me... I can't wait to make some like that when she is older and can remember. My mom and I did that once in California. I am sure the people outside the booth were wondering what was going on inside! I think that is one of my best memories with my mom. I cherish it deeply.

Tonight was a great night too! Bev (Dan's mom) took me out to eat with Grandma Johnson (her mom) and Tyler (who just got his braces on). Ty could only eat soup and a milk shake. Abi did awesome and is just too cute! I also got sung to... it was kind of awkward because they were all males... but they made me laugh.

I am so grateful for all my friends and family who have wished me a happy birthday! Like Cam said today, the weather was the best present for me! It was beautiful and really reflects how I feel about my day. I love you all... take care of my Dan if you see him the next little while.

PS- I would love to make anyone a cake if they need one!

Multiple posts...

Just FYI...
When I post, I usually post three or four at a time, so you may be missing some good stuff!

Conference Weekend

In the midst of being so uplifted from the Prophet and Apostles... we were strengthening our family in Colorado for the weekend with this! The leaders of the church would be proud of our quality family time!

We had a blast playing my in-law's Wii for the weekend with my family who doesn't have one... yet (I think we convinced them to get one).

My dad plays so well like this! Isn't that great?:) I also love that he just got home from doing bishop stuff and was in his white shirt!

Big, blue-eyed girl! Those peepers are gorgeous!

Taking a walk with Sadie... Abi absolutely loved her too!

Lovin' this girl!

How can you pass up these photos? Abi is such a joy and SO funny!

Does she look like Pharaoh or a biker babe? :)

My cousin Lindsey was in town helping her mom paint her Brother's new house. I don't remember the last time we saw eachother, and it was so nice to spend a little time together. Abigail loved her too! - As a side note: This day was quite the day! Abi peed through her outfit so I had to take off as much as I could and wash them out in the bathroom and hang things over the heat vent. After that diaper and a couple hours later, I went to get another diaper and I didn't have one! Quite the adventure...

During the day...

I have been asked a lot about what I do during the day, so here it is... the grand mess!

I am currently taking classes at BYU through the internet. When Abi goes down for a nap, I immediately get to the books. This is a picture of my landscaping endeavors and then on my desk (no photo) I have all my human development books. When Abi starts to wake up, all of it gets cleaned up. I do this about 3 or 4 times a day. It has been a lot of work, but I am really enjoying the progress I have made.

One of my best friends had a birthday party for her two kids the other week... and this is what I spent mucho mucho time on! I had so much fun making this cake and can't wait for an excuse to make another for someone!

Remains...

The top layer was a lemon cake with lemon filling and the bottom was a confetti cake with raspberry filling... they were hits!
